O2 Arena
Description
Alongside the fit-out works, Byrne Bros undertook the structural concrete works for the arena and six waterfront buildings—all constructed within the existing dome structure of the O₂ Arena. To maintain access to the building cores, they were cast in advance of the surrounding structure using innovative slipform and climbing techniques.
The architect’s requirement for a consistent, high-quality concrete finish led our engineering team to develop a solution combining fibreglass shuttering with a specialist concrete mix to ensure a uniform colour and texture across the structure.
This project showcased the seamless coordination of specialist fit-out expertise and complex structural engineering, delivering both architectural vision and technical precision.
