Established in 1969 by Patsy and Johnny Byrne, our reputation is built on reliability, integrity, our people and lasting client relationships across multiple sectors. We’re more than a construction group—we’re a team of experienced professionals, driven by shared values, working to build safer, smarter, and more sustainable environments.
The collaboration between Byrne Group and the global construction leader WBHO marked a significant milestone. In 2017, WBHO identified Byrne Group as an ideal partner in the UK and acquired a minority stake, supporting the growth objectives of both organisations. This partnership was further strengthened in 2018, when WBHO became the majority shareholder.
Founded in South Africa, WBHO was first established in 1970 as Wilson-Holmes. Following a number of mergers in the subsequent four decades, the group WBHO construction emerged in 1996. WBHO is the largest construction company in South Africa and the group has one of the largest construction footprints in the southern hemisphere and an enviable global reputation, working on some of the world’s most high profile construction projects.
