Description
Byrne Group were awarded Akzo Nobel Demolition & Remediation, having inherent knowledge of the logistical challenges and local neighborhood. There were 106 planning conditions to be discharged and a BAPA consent from Network rail
Works consisted of complete site set up and securing the site with hoarding, soft strip and Hazardous material removal due to being an old paint plant. Asbestos removal through out the multiple buildings from roof sheets, flues, AIB board and lagging.
The demolition of all lower-level buildings was completed using standard demolition methods of large machines with pulverizes the larger building was completed with a high reach excavator with pulverizing attachment and shear for the steel beams. All foundations were removed with the materials being crushed on site for reuse as a working platform.
Sheet piles and a capping beam were installed along the highway elevation for retaining and taking the security fencing. There was also a 10,000m3 cut and fill with stabilization works.
