


Lord's Allen Stand
Description
Byrne Demolition was instructed to carry out the safe Demolition of the Allen stand at Lords the home of cricket. The works consisted of removal of external shop to allow for welfare set up, the soft strip of the Allen stand, scaffold erection to supply access and protection screens, separation of the link bridge tied to the listed pavilion.
The main demolition consisted of partial demolition of the steel roof by hand to allow standard high reach demolition using a 490 machine with pulverising attachments. As demolition was completed the removal of the slab and foundation commenced, along with pile probing to the area.
During the main works we also carried out the removal of asbestos roof sheets to the Taven stand including the supporting steel beams working from a birdcage and using a mobile crane. Steel beams was then pieced up at ground floor level for removal.
