Project Details
Value: £20 MILLION
FRC works for the following assets:
Victoria Road Crossover Box (VRCB), Victoria Road Ancillary Shaft (VRAS), Atlas Road Logistics Tunnel (ARLT), Canterbury Road Vent Shaft (CRVS), Adelaide Road Vent Shaft (ARVS), Westgate Vent Shaft (WVS), Green Parkway Vent Shaft & Headhouse (GPVS).
VRCB is 130m length designed with 5 cells with an approximate ID38.50m. The structure comprises approximately 1.5m thick diaphragm walls, with top and intermediate levels of reinforced concrete props and 2m thk base slabs. The connection between SCL tunnels and VRCB will require a permanent portal frame to transmit the hoop forces. There will be no secondary lining, and the box will remain open to the elements in the permanent case.
VRAS, CRVS, ARVS, WVS & GPVS shafts generally consist of Caisson Segmental precast lining and SCL primary lining. FRC elements consist of deep base slabs (approx. 3m deep) with RC secondary lining to the SCL primary linings. Tunnels adjoining the shafts’ called adits are constructed with a SCL lining and a FRC base slab along with crown RC liner is constructed. The internal structure of the shaft including lift core, stairwells, columns & floors slabs is constructed after the secondary lining.
