North London Heat & Power Plant Enabling
Description
Byrne Groundworks has successfully delivered a complex programme of enabling and infrastructure works within the waste bunker area at the North London Heat and Power Project.
Our scope included piling attendance and the breakout of 880 piles, alongside the excavation and export of approximately 22,000 m³ of material from the waste bunker. We also safely removed and disposed of 1,000 m³ of hazardous materials, ensuring full compliance with environmental and safety regulations. To support ongoing construction activities, we managed the importation and placement of 56,000 m³ of primary backfill materials.
The project required extensive underground services installation, with approximately 47.7 kilometres of services excavated and installed. These works encompassed surface water, foul and trade effluent systems, fire mains, potable water, trade, reuse and raw water supplies, natural gas infrastructure, extensive ducting networks, and district heating services.
In addition, we installed surface and trade water attenuation tanks with a total capacity of 4,180 m³, along with multiple oil separators ranging from 8 l/s to 15 l/s. All works were delivered safely, efficiently, and in coordination with the wider project programme, supporting the successful progression of this major infrastructure development.
We are currently undertaking additional scope to the roadways and logistics slabs.
